Types of Tissue – Age, Gender, Disease
Lions World Vision Institute typically supplies ocular tissues with the following criteria:
- High quality, low death-to-preservation time
- Age, race, and gender-specific criteria
- Control and diseased tissue including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy
- Access to donor medical history available at the time of death (in some cases detailed ophthalmic records can be retrieved)
We also offer post-mortem validation of ocular disease:
- AMD graded by fundus analysis using the Minnesota grading scale
- Glaucoma graded by histological analysis of ganglion cell density of the optic nerve
