The Ocular Research Center at LWVI
As a cornerstone of the LWVI mission, the Ocular Research Center facilitates research projects that benefit the entire ophthalmic community. Our primary enablers include:
- Supplying human ocular tissue and fluids with minimal preservation times
- Offering comprehensive CRO services, from study design to evaluation and validation
- Conducting in-house research in eye-banking and ophthalmology
The LWVI boasts a long and proud history of advancing ocular research. By integrating eye-banking with a premier contract research organization (CRO), we empower groundbreaking research projects. Our dedicated lab space is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and our team brings a wealth of experience in ophthalmic research.

We offer a large variety of services for our research partners including, but not limited to the posthumous grading of age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma tissue; retina organ culture; perfused anterior organ culture; dissection, preparation, and histology; cell culture; and on-site collaboration opportunities. In addition, we supply some of the world’s largest and most prestigious institutions and ophthalmic companies with an unsurpassed quality and volume of research tissue including Rutgers, Emory, Singapore Eye Hospital, Moorfields London, Alcon, Bausch & Lomb, and Genentech.
